King Street Gallery - FRESSSSSH!: Fresh Perspectives— an insightful visual narrative exploring cultural heritage and the creative blending of generational intuition [Temporary Exhibit]

Introducing FRESSSSSH! This innovative exhibition showcases a sense of familiarity, culture, and new perspectives centered on the voices of ten BIPOC Young Adult/Youth curators from the Seattle area: Joshua Williams, Dream Bernard, Naima Joseph, Kimilo Jahn, Ruson Summerquist, Othello Smith, Ahmir Huggins, Yaniyah Oliver, and Anya Ceballos-Baliga. These artists were privileged to work alongside five inspiring local, regional, and national artists: Damon Brown, Aramis Hamer, Warren W. Pope, Warren A. Pope, and Kellie Colemon.

FRESSSSSH! born from the acronym – FRESH – stands for Familiarize, Research, Expose, Support, and Honor, a desire to support young BIPOC students ages 17 – 20 with a 21-day intensive experience in which they were given the opportunity to learn more about the exclusive world of art curation. The Fresssssh exhibition aims to curate an insightful visual narrative exploring cultural heritage and the creative blending of generational intuition about what exists within our shared human experiences that opens our senses to the level of something deemed as “Fresh”. Together, the Art, the Artists, and the curators create a new collective voice—a voice that unfolds a new and unique perspective for anyone to be inspired. It is a story of activism, culture, and history.
